Microcurrent has been used successfully since the 1960s by acupuncturists, chiropractors, physicians, physical therapists and other wellness professionals for pain management and the treatment of various health conditions. Microcurrent technology for aesthetic purposes, particularly to combat the results of aging, appeared in the 1980s. Microcurrent mirrors the body’s natural electrical impulses and increases cellular energy and functioning. In addition, microcurrent technology increases skin collagen production and increases the amount of skin fibroblasts, which are early cells that create connective tissue. What differentiates ELR™ from other microcurrent machines is its use of colored light, which makes it even more effective.

You’ll likely feel and see the results of ELR™ after the first treatment. One session won’t have long lasting results, however. A number of treatments is required to re-educate the facial muscles and achieve rejuvenation of the facial tissues and energy systems. A complete series of treatment is usually 10 to 12 sessions, about 2 sessions a week. Up to 20 sessions may be needed for older people with deeper wrinkles, loss of elasticity, sun worshipers or smokers. Maintenance treatments are required once every 1-2 months. A session takes approximately 60 minutes. Women and men in middle age are the ideal candidates, but younger people can also use it to slow down facial aging or to treat acne.

People who should not have microcurrent are those with seizure disorders, pacemakers, cancer, and pregnancy. Side effects, which may occur during microcurrent procedures, include tingling, especially near the mouth.
